Stonehouse Timber Lodge has been on Lake Gaston almost as long as Lake Gaston has been on the Roanoke River. Built in the early 1960's, some of the facilities were getting a bit dated so we did some major renovations. It was a serious project but the results are worth the effort. You will enjoy the large, inviting decks. The marina and docks were redesigned with convenience in mind. We have made every effort to maximize your comfort while you play hard at Stonehouse Timber Lodge.
Our
reputation began with rustic, one bedroom log cabins. We've
come a long ways since then! Our cabins have been renovated along
with the rest of the lodge. They have nearly all the modern
conveniences that you have at home. Rustic on the outside; cozy on
the inside.
Modern or not, log cabins might still be too rustic for you. If
you're looking for a vacation home that is a little more
home-like, you're still at the right place. We have
waterfront homes and mobile homes on the water or close to it. Take a
look around. See what we are doing to make your vacation with us an
experience you'll want to repeat every year.
Lake Gaston is 20,300 acres of clear, blue, fresh
water; 34 miles long with 350 miles of shoreline. The roads around
the lake connect a series of natural beauty spots. They wind their
way through hills and valleys, sometimes accompanied by wild brooks
bathed in pleasant sunshine, sometimes shadowed by forests creating
many sylvan retreats. The country patchwork varies with growths of
oak, pine and cedar on the horizon. It is captivating and enchanting
with only the turn of a road changing the view and revealing yet
another delight for your unforgettable vacation.
Blue water surrounded by gently rolling hills,
fields, woods, morning sunrise and glorious sunsets conspire to make
your visit to Lake Gaston an experience you
will remember happily for life. The scenic beauty of the lake with
its relaxing atmosphere and the traditional hospitality of the people
creates the desire to return again and again.
Boating is a never ending delight on this beautiful
lake. That is not an accident. The entire lake bottom was completely
cleared before the lake was flooded to insure a high degree of
boating safety. No horsepower restrictions, easy access via numerous
paved ramps and marina services available all around the lake make
pleasure boating a real pleasure. No wonder, then, that
Lake Gaston is considered the best lake on
the east coast.
